Bypassing AC Compressor - How To Do It ?? 200

Hello. 1986 Sedan. My AC doesn't work. Never has. I'm ok with that. Was thinking though that if I can bypass AC compressor maybe i'd get better mileage or even maybe better performance too. Seems visually that the middle pully on crankshaft lines up with PS pump pully. So I was thinking to run a belt from middle pully to PS pump pully and therefore eliminate AC compressor. Then I would not have 2x belts running to water pump & alternator as it now is set up. I would then just have one. Any problems with my idea ? Any comments, advice, information, opinions on my idea ? Anyone done this ? Thank you.
