Engine RPM's at cruising speed 900 1993

HI All,

Just bought a 93 940 N/A Wagon for $500, it had a blown head gasket and a few dents in addition to being very neglected and filthy. I got the engine
running and I will deal with the other cosmetic issues as time permits.

My question is about the engine RPM's. I know that the OD is working and when drive 70 mph on the Freeway, the engine is at 3K rpm. When I drive my 87'745T the rpm's are only at 2,700 at 70mph(and not in boost). I was hoping that I would see a significant savings in gas with the N/A but if the engine rpm's are about 10% higher on average I am thinking it will not be much different?

Does that rpm agree with you other N/A 940 owners?

Thanks,
JJ
