When my dipped beams went down it was the hi/low foot switch that was the culprit. One from a VW bug should work fine, and other models which I am not familiar with.

I still haven't decided if I prefer kicking something with my foot or switching something with my hand. But on a mountain road in the dark, when you're constantly braking and/or switching to dipped because of oncoming traffic, I'd probably go for the hand-operated switch. It's just neater.
