b20 fuel injected engine conversion 120-130 1968

"I am having problems with my carbs and i feel fuel injection is a lot more realiable."

Are you running HS6 carbs? I had trouble with mine too. I even considered fuel injection. I decided it was just too much work and too expensive to end up with the same power and economy.

Instead, so I could continue to drive the car while doing something about the problem, I bought a set of carbs off eBay and sent them to Mr. Bryant in Maine. The eBay carbs cost me $60 delivered to my door. Depending on what needs to be done, how much you want to do yourself, and what parts he needs to replace you can get out for anywhere from $160 - $250 from Mr. Bryant. I supplied the rebuild kits (sourced from Burlin Fuel Systems; another $200). My final cost was about $375. The result? Clean, crisp carburetion, 25-26 MPG, and 0-60 eventually.

I could have spent more and would spend more for higher performance or MPG or both. But the return on investment for power and economy that a fresh set of SU carbs provides is hands down the best alternative.

Fuel injection will give you the best possible MPG and power if it is setup properly. But even with a MegaSquirt system the cost is going to be at least triple the cost of a set of rebuilt SU carbs. How much improvement will you get? Maybe 26-28 MPG and 0-60 eventually.
