ignition control unit bypass? Which wires to jump? 200

Is it possible in THEORY* to bypass the ignition control unit to send an ignition signal to the ECU (directly from the coil)? I'm retrofitting a 2.2 system to my BMW 2002 with pertronix. Looking at the Bentley wiring diagrams, it appears I can run the signal from negative on the coil (bypass ignition control unit), to Pin 1 on the ECU.

*There had been some discussion about whether or not the signal from the coil (with points or pertronix)would work with the ECU, but I believe Bosch created the ECU to accept a signal from either points or other electronic ignition to run the unit. So I'm just trying to figure out if this is the route that the signal goes from the coil.

Any thoughts?
