ANSWER 1985 740GLE Low Beam Problem 700 1985

I have replaced the bulb with one identical to the one in it (Its a 2 prong in a 3 prong socket?) NO, bulb and socket must match.

Low beam bulbs are three-prong bulbs, since they have two filaments. Two-prong bulbs are high beam only.

Only the low beams are on the Bulb Failure Warning System (assuming 740 is same as 240).

It is common for the low beams to burn out before highs. That is what may have happened to you, although if the bulb in the low beam position had only two prongs it is the wrong bulb, maybe the PO needed one while on a trip.

Be sure you have low beam bulbs on the outside, inner bulbs are high beam only.

Good Luck,

Bob
