Ignition switch and what else? 200

OK, last night it rained like hell. Get up this morning to go some places and NO START, not even a click. All the electrical works, but no starter. Whittled it down to the ignition switch. Used some old coax cable to hot wire the car. Runs perfect - in fact better than before. It used to idle at 1,000, now at 750 - I even felt a bit more jerkiness to the torque. Anyway, get the ignition switch from an 83. Put it in and same scene. No start. What else could the car be using to interfere with the connection of Switch to Battery to Solenoid? Fuses are ok. But is there some kind of a Relay I'm not aware of?
