544 Igntion Problem 444-544

?

It is not possible to "hot wire" a vintage Volvo because the Ign Switch and Spark Coil are connected by an armored cable which protects the positive wire from unauthorized "fart'n with"...and we owners like it that way! The only way to start the engine is to pick the Ign Switch and turn the Ign ON. or to bring your own coil!

The only "problem" with the oe Ign Sw is that the spring which returns the key from the Start position to the Ign ON position is so strong that given the long life of these cars, ALL the keys eventually fatigue and break...this excaserbated by wear and cold. The solution is to install a Start switch.
