THE FUEL PUMP NOW RUNS... but, only When I jumper it! 700 turbo 700 1989

Well after jumping thru hoops, I tried the jumper thing on the fuse panel/board, and it runs... but according to the FAQs I should have to turn the key on before it runs, but mine starts as soon as i connect the jumper. Is this a further sign of a bad ignition switch?

The connectors in the fuse panel were pushed in and not making good contact.

Did I understand that the power for the fuel pump comes through the relay and then to the fuse? I have power at the fuse, but with the relay installed it won't make the pump run. I have tried several of the relays to no avail.

Thanks to everyone that has gotten me this far!
