No start/hard start in warm weather 200 1988

Hi, hoping someone can help me. My daughter has a 88 240DL that lately will not start with the outside temp. rises. The engine cranks but won't fire, sometimes if you really pump the gas pedal you can get it to start but most times it won't. This generally occurs on sunny days when temps reach 60+. Whn it's cold out, no problem. Also once do do get it to start it'll usually run fine. It is intermitent, runs fine for days but then on a warm day after sitting, go go. Tried replacing the fuel pump relay, no luck. Any suggestions would really be appreciated. Thanks
