Did the fix on my 86 this fall. Got the gear from Odometergear.com, and it is a tough little gear. Did find a good gear in a junker last year and it lasted 1.4 miles, and then the teeth broke. So best bet is to go with a new gear and be done with it. The new replacement has 8K on it so far and going strong.
