Radio interference 140-160

Hey all,

I recently installed a like-new AM\FM radio\tape player (that was designed for MGs autos) in my 1970 Volvo. I also installed new speakers and wiring. The radio works great when the engine is off, but emits a lot of static when the engine is running. The static increases according to speed, until you can't hear anything but white noise. The tape player works fine regardless of speed.

Based on another posting, I replaced the condenser, rotor, and dist. cap and this seems to have helped slightly. The spark plugs are good, and the spark plug wires are of the pricey kind that are supposedly designed to reduce radio emissions through increased insulation. The coil, however is not the blue Bosch type but a cheap aftermarket one.

Any ideas on how I can reduce\eliminate this static on my radio? Would a genuine Bosch coil help out? Thanks for any suggestions.
