steering wheel removal 700

1988 740 GLE - I have searched the 700/900 FAQs on steering wheel removal, but
I do not see or feel the two screws at the back of the wheel even when cranked 90 degrees. Do you first remove the two plastic steering column covers
(phillips screws) to get to the wheel itself?

I found an uncracked (rare) black dash board at the JY and know how to remove, but first must get the steering off. I have not seen that I need a wheel remover..

Thanks,

Jay
