WindSheild Wiper Problems!!! Please Help! They wanna clean off my hood! 200 1988

Hey all I own a 1988 volvo station wagon 240 DL. Well the problem is this I just recently replaced my wiper motor about 2-3 months ago and they were running fine untill the passenger side wiper becan to flip out. It would start in the normal position like usual then it would go across the window like it sjhould then it would go to far and start trying to wipe off my hood. I would end up having to reposition it and tighten it and it would work for alittle while then do the same thing, the part that is really terrible is it would get stuck on the hood and then both wipers would stop working. Now after repositioning them over and over now it seems that the lever to the right side of the wheel that controls the wiper speed is going ka-put cause now when i put it in the off position it makes them try to go medium speed then i have to search for what positon will make them stop *as i start banging my head on the steering wheel* lol. Alright thats about my main problem right now please if any of u know what is wrong please reply.
