Dash Lights Came On 200 1988

Good Morning,

This morning it was pretty chilly in central NJ, and my '88 245 was squealing a lot. I was thinking it was the belts or the power steering pump. A couple of minutes into the trip, all of my dash warning lights came on. I was sure my alternator went, but I decided to just keep going. I went about 7 more miles to the train station with no incident, except that the dash lights were on the whole time. Could I have gone that far if it was the alternator? I thought I smelled a very faint burning smell from under the hood, but I’m not sure. I don’t know what to expect when I get back to the car this afternoon! Any ideas?

Thanks!
