Hotter thermostat for FI? 120-130

I went to go buy a thermostat for my B20 megasquirt project and the counter guy was trying to convince me that if I have fuel injection that I would be better off buying the hotter thermostat (192-195 vs the OEM 180 degrees). He said that modern FI cars run hotter as it is more efficient. Any thoughts? Hotter seems more prone to pinging.
