Shaving body trim 200 1989

Hey all,

Looking at possibly buying an 89DL. I noticed that it does not have the body trim at the bottom of the doors. I am not stranger to shaving trim bits off of a car, and I am wondering if it is a matter of just welding/filling these holes in to make a cleaner appearance.

Also, has anyone also shaved the large black trim strip that runs along the sides and the decklid off? Do you have any pictures?
