Hello Karl,
According to a Volvo factory quick reference guide that I have, the following are the correct applications for rear brake cylinders as they pertain to 122 and 1800 Volvos with front disc brakes:
Wheel cylinder 673731 is correct for 1969 1800S and 1969-1970 122S sedans and wagons.
Wheel cylinder 667166 is correct for 1968 1800S and 1968 122S sedans and wagons with dual circuit brakes.
Wheel cylinder 671216 is correct for ALL PRE 1968 122 WAGONS WITH SINGLE CIRCUIT BRAKES and ALL P120(122 4 door) with a B18A and P130(122 2 door) with a B18A -279899 P120 with a B18D -225049 and P130 with a B18D -216949.
Wheel cylinder 670404 is correct for P120 with a B18D 225050- and P130 with B18B or B18D 216950-279899 and P130 279900- with single circuit brakes. Volvo lists 3 different part numbers for P180(P1800, 1800S)rear wheel cylinders for single circuit brakes, but I believe 2 of the numbers update to the 670404, which is one of the 3 listed wheel cylinder numbers.
When I investigated further, I found wheel cylinder 673391 is the correct number for 1968 wagons with dual circuit brakes. My quick reference guide does specifically identifies the station wagon as using the 667166 wheel cylinder, so I can not account for that discrepency in my quick reference guide, but as long as both rear wheel cylinders are the same part number is what is important, which is another good reason to change wheel cylinders in pairs.
