Airbag Woes 700

I picked up a really minty 740 wagon for my daughter to drive, put about 2K in it, and, first week driving, she got in an accident that caused the airbag to deploy. Now, I'm looking at a total loss because of the exhorbitant pricing of the airbag and actuator assembly. Has anyone successfully found a way to get the needed parts installed and activated to get the vehicle running again? I don't care about the salvage title; I've just got about two grand more in this car than it will total out for, and it's really not badly damaged, aside from the airbag stuff (left rear fender was impacted, flat tire, body damage, and rear bumper cover knocked off).
I hate to let this car go - only 160K miles and lots of maintenance dollars spend (new timing belt, water pump, belts, hoses, tires, etc.)
Any advice/experience with the airbag issue would be appreciated. Thanks.
