Timing belt - no marks to set cam sprocket 900 1994

I've read a lot of posts, but can't seem to find an answer. I can't find any marks to line up the cam sprocket with. The crank is set to "0" and after taking #1 sparkplug out, I can see that the episton head is at TDC. However, I have to set the cam sprocket independently, and there are no marks on the engine or plastic rear timing cover to go by. The sprocket has a pre-punched mark, but what do I set it to? Any thought/help would be appreciated.

Dan
