Bulb failure sensor failure!!! 200 1987

Our '87 245 lost all three brake lights. There is power to the fuse, switch, and into the bulb failure sensor, but no power coming out to the R.,L. or center bulb leads. Anybody experience a failure of the sensor like this before? It looks to me like I need a new sensor or a repair, but only having a Haynes manual, for all I know, the sensor could be a relay as well and there is another input its missing. Thanks for your help, the expertise demonstrated here is really impressive.
