are these wheels a good fit for my car?

Hello,

I came across a set of 14" 242 wheels complete with Michelin tires (size 195 75 R14). Total cost including shipping is around $170.

I read in an old Road & Track issue that swapping out the original skinny tires in 140s to wider 1800 tires helped performance. Following their logic, I assume wider 240 tires might qualify as an upgrade also. Ultimately, what I am looking for is a car that will feel solid doing 70 m.p.h. on the interstate. Currently, my vehicle drifts around at higher speeds.

I've fairly exhaustively scanned the archives for information, but am still unsure what decision to make given my goals. So would these 242 tires make a good upgrade for my 1970 142?

Many thanks for any info!
