Three Problems: leak, heater valve and torsion bars 120-130

I have a 68 Amazon restored. I still have 3 problems:

1. I am getting water inside the cabin from the vent in front of the windscreen. I understand that it is most likely due to the overflow pipe being blocked. can anyone tell me how I go about unblocking the pipe. my mechanic told me it requires removal of the whole heater unit at considerable cost. Is this correct?

2. The heater has stopped working. Can someone explain how I replace the heater valve/thermostat. I guess this job ties in with the job above.

3. The torsion springs for the boot lid have lost their torsion and the boot lid falls down when trying to get stuff in and out. Any ideas on fixing this other than getting the springs re-torsioned?

Any advice on these matters will be greatly appreciated.
