If this is a Regina car, I think it has an air Temp sensor where a Bosch system would have an air mass meter and a MAP sensor somewhere on the left fenderwell connected to a vacuum line. We don't get many Regina cars out here of the West Coast, but it seems to me if the MAP sensor is scrambled, the car may act like this. I checked the part # for the Engine temp sensor (Volvo #1346030) you might want to verify you got the right one (interestingly, the same # for the Bosch system). It seems to me the last time I looked at a MAP sensor it was actually a G.M. part.
