fuel injectors bad? 200

Okay, I checked the FPR small hose and there was no smell of gas. Can anyone tell me how you would check an injector? There are four lines going to them on the top which I assume would be electrical lines of some sort. These all have been patched with silicone caulk, which we didn't do. I will have to figure out how to run a compression check which means I'll have to run to town(53 miles) and see if I can find a gauge at a pawn shop or something. Anyway, ANY help would be appreciated. Thank you. 1984 240 DL with 158,000, manual 4 speed with OD.
