Tranny Drain or Flush? 700

Hi Guys:
I have owned the present 90 740 GLE 16 valve for 2 years. I got it with 150K and have now 188K. I don't know anything about its service history as far as the transmission. My mechanic says I should change the fluid. But he just wants to drop the pan and drain it.He says that if he flushes it there is a danger of near term tranny problems. Is he right? Should I just have it drained or look for somebody else (myself with IPD Kit) to flush it? Or do nothing? The tranny is presently working fine...
Tks for yr comments
