Can't pin down no backup-light problem 200

1985 245 automatic with no reverse lights.

Here's what I did:

1- checked fuses
2- checked bulbs
3- inspected each light assembly and wires look good. Metal flat bars for current all look good.
4- removed the pie-selector in the gear shift assembly on the floor. Opened it up, cleaned the metal slides, removed the plastic slider and cleaned the pins. Made sure slider contacted the slides. Checked wiring for cuts. Wiggled the shifter - still no lights.

Is there a wire on the tranny anywhere? Not sure where else to look.
