Engine doesn't idle when fuse is pulled 200 1989

Yep. In pre-1991 cars, only the in-tank pump runs on whatever fuse (#6?) is labeled "fuel pump". The main pump and computers run off of the 25amp blade fuse in the engine compartment. Hence, pull the fuse in the fuse box, the car will run fine as long as the tank isn't almost empty. Pull the 25amp fuse and the car will stop since the computer's are dead, not because of lack of fuel pressure. I wonder if you can damage the computer this way?

As for relieving fuel pressure, I just disconnected the battery and popped the regulator out. Not too bad. Just have a towel handy. :-)
