Installing heater valve in 122S 120-130 1969

The heater valve in my car was missing so I do not know how it fits. Answers to the following would be really appreciated.

1. Does the copper piping running to the heater simply run under the floor mat or should it be enclosed in something - eg tape or tubing?

2. At the heater does it simply tape to the unit with the end across the air exit or underneath or away from the air exit. Or is it attached in some other way?

3. Are there any adjustments that need to be made on the valve?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
