88 760 falters on hard acceleration 700 1988

My 88 760 wagon abruptly shuts down upon hard aceleration. It doesn't die, just acts as if the fuel is turned off at a full punch. It drives and works well under normal conditions at all speeds unless you punch it hard, you would think you hit water in the fuel or something. I have tried several cans of heat just in case. The fuel filter is several years old, it is a young car with only 105K, in great shape. It sits an awful lot, that's why I tried the heat.

Does anyone have any hints???

Thanks, Bill
