wet floorboard 700 1990

In my Volvo, which is an English model with the steering wheel on the right side, I always seem to have a wet floorboard.
A person has told me that a heater coil is leaking and will be a tough thing to replace or repair on my own.
Any suggestions? Is this indeed a good diagnosis from my friend?
The mat feels and smells like antifreeze.
How do I get up in there, and where exactly is it.
I want to repair this on my own, if possible.
