klunking of interior tailgate 700

FCP Groton sells the kit to repair it.

It's called this in their in-house parts system:
TGRK700900 Tailgate Rattle Repair Kit (with instructions) $17.00

and you can see it on the listing on this page:
http://www.fcpgroton.com/Volvo700900other.htm

Just did one in my wife's 90 wagon, and need to do it for the other 90 wagon. They all, repeat ALL, break. The design is incredibly poor and should never have been built out of all plastic.

Kit gives you metal reinforcements, sheetmetal screws, and 4 new top clips. If you need bottom clips, you can order them separately.

Getting the tailgate panel off requires unsnapping the rectangular trim around the latch handle, then removing the two screws under it, that hold the flat piece just below the latch release finger. Remove the 4 clips across the bottom, unplug the brake light, and have at it. I recommend some needlenose or chain-nose pliers to bend the new metal tabs. Bend both sides in the same direction- try one and you'll see how it fits.
