head gasket update (940)

I know a few of you indicated a bad head gasket could not be likely without abuse, however the head is now off of my 940 and the gasket was bad at the first coolant port at the no. 1 cylinder. Coolant has had the proper flushings etc. and no overheating has occurred, but what seems to have occurred was a gradual attack of electrolosis which created the erosion at this narrow point. Everything cleaned up ok ((had to really be sure on the head at this area)) and when my parts come in I'll put it back together. I am definitely no volvo expert (had a bunch of help), but after talking to a few on this board and a man I know who used to recond. heads, this was my findings on this matter. I'm not saying I'm right but it is food for thought. Thanks to everyone who assisted me with info on this matter. Larry
