Beware that aftermarket bushings are not always sized properly. If you got a Volvo bushing, I'd say that the cup gland was damaged/opened up due to removal of the old one. If you did get aftermarket, check the diameter of the new and old one. I bet the new one is smaller than the OEM Volvo one.
Hint: good solution is to have it tack welded into the cup. Much cheaper and quicker than a new or junkyard cup.
I had the problem of bad aftermarket bushings for the rear trailing arms, and torque rods, just dropped through the holes, and 0.02 in too small diameter. Sent them back to one of our fasvorite suppliers (I'm not naming names here, but take a guess) and went to the Volvo parts counter.
Get Volvo bushings!!!!
FYI, you can interchange the left and right cup bushings. That is and old specification, and is common for a dealer to replace both the same (Volvo now reccommends the softer rubber left side for both. I replaced both with the harder rubber right side bushing, just fine.
