Pulsating Idle 700 1988

First time ever the engine is pulsating at idle from cold start.
Starts good and runs fine then within a few minutes the idle will go from 800 down to 500
then back to 800 and so on and so on.
Dosen't seem to effect performance but is very annoying when idling, generally when starting from cold
and not after warmed up.
Anyone experience this phenomenon?
