Leaking exhaust at turbo/downpipe interface 900 1995

Dear Roj,

Hope this finds you well. I read your post. I didn't respond, because I don't have turbo-equipped cars. Thus, I'm not familiar with the turbo-to-downpipe connection. On normally-aspirated (non-turbo) cars, I am familiar with the manifold to downpipe connection, having taken a few of them apart.

The key words in your post are: "a professionally made custom 3" exhaust system".

When custom work has been done, most of what one knows about a problem goes out the window. In terms of exhaust systems, without plenty of pictures, it is pretty hard to know how the person, who did the modifications, shaped pipes or made joints. Offering advice on a problem with such a set-up, sight unseen, is hard. That may account for the small number of replies.

Whenever I see a post relating to a custom audio set-up, I don't bother to read it. Whatever I may know about typical Volvo-installed devices, likely is no help to someone, who faces something different. Equally, whatever I might learn, likely is so specific to that installation, that it won't again be useful.

The bottom line: those, who do modifications - or have them done - cut themselves off from the vast body of knowledge about the standard method or installation. The difficulty of getting advice is a hidden cost of doing - or having done - these modifications.

Yours faithfully,

spook
