head gasket? 200 1991

Morning all! was driving this past Friday, car acted like it was missing, pulled into a parking lot and opened the hood, had radiator fluid all over motor and under the hood, could not tell where the leak was at the time, let it cool, filled it with a gallon of water and drove it home. replaced expansion tank cap and cleaned the mess, replaced plugs and wired and started up, ran great until it warmed up, then started blowing white smoke, it is at a shop now and the mechanic showed me radiator fluid on the bottom of oil fill cap! suspected head gasket, ball park repair cost 400.00, is this a fair price? car is immaculate condition and I believe worth keeping. thanks, don
