a/c low air flow when accelerating 91 740 700 1991

Ive read the FAQs regarding a reduction in the a/c vent flow when accelerating from start or during cruise. The flow increases after throttle back. I have a vacuum leak .That much I know. The thing is I can hear the hissing sound coming from the controller. Down here in S. Florida I always keep the Rotary controller in the upper (face) position and this is when I hear the hissing .If I rotate the controller to the floor position or the defrost position the hissing stops. Therefor I somewhat conclude that the controller MAY be bad. I pulled out the controller and with the engine running there seems to get good suction from the "White" vacuum line.It is hard to pin point the leak so I will try again. I have mot ruled out the possibility of leaks elsewhere It seems that the controllers are servicible. A new one could possibly be for an arm and a leg. There is a person selling theses things on e-bay with a 2 yr warranty? rebuilt ones that is. Can any of you bricksters in the know make some suggestion?..Cheers ...paul
