ignition control units 1982-1988 - 1992 comp ign sys - tz-28 h - ez116k 200 1988

Hello folks, is anybody here familiar with the tz-28 ignition control system? apparently it is the successor to the computerized ignition control system used from 1982-1988 . It has a smaller module located on the left firewall of the engine compartment. It is the predecessor to the ez 116k ignition control. My question is this; can the earlier computerized ignition module and the tz-28 modules be interchanged? they appear to be the same processor wise exept that it does not have a vacuum advance and does not supply an engine speed reference via terminal 8 to terminal 1 on the the LH jetronic unit. this system also does not use a knock sensor. How does this unit control advance? or is this icu just used with carbureted engines? the wiring diagrams show a hall effect distributor. My goal here is with modifications to the harness can I use this module (tz-28) in place of the earlier and getting hard to find computerized ignition module. While this might seem like a pain in the butt it should be possible these control units except for the earlier vacuum advance unit are pretty basic diode grounding units Lucid this sounds like it would be right up your alley. The same question can also be asked of the ez116k module, can this be adapted to the computerized ignition using the hall effect signal in place of the impulse wheel signal? While I do realize that these modules are different they all have functions in common. All ideas are welcome Thank You
