Hi Brickers!
Well I have a bit of a brain scratcher (for me at least) and am looking for help.
Last weekend I went to replace my belts and, while I was prevented from doing so (stupid stripped fan nuts), I ended up doing some other things:
1. Replaced Flame Trap. It didn't look too bad, but the tube it sits in was stiff with age and I had the parts anyway.plus when I removed the tube there was junk filling the little receiver it went into.
2. Clean fuse contacts and replace all the fuses with brand new. some of the fuses were so corroded the disintegrated in my and as I pulled em out. Also some of them were the wrong fuse, such as a 25 in place of a 16.
3. A little body work on some trim.
Well after reconnecting the battery, I fired her up and she stalled after some VERY rough idling. Tried it again, still the same. I looked under the hood and noticed the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator to the intake manifold had cracked off. It had just enough play to allow me to fix it, so I did with no effect. So then I cleaned the distributor/rotor and tested all of my plugs, which came out as fine. I figured it might be some air in the fuel line from the hose on the pressure regulator, so I gave it a couple of days, but it is still doing it. She idled a little rough before, but now she just stalls on idle. The throttle also surges, as in you put steady pressure on it and the car revs, then almost stalls then revs then almost stalls. This and the stalling usually goes away after several minutes of driving, but I am stumped as to what it could be.
My injectors are who knows how old so I suspected them at first, except that the problem started so dramatically after I did my work. Any Advice?
