Cant shift My automatic transmission out of park.. Help!! 200 1991

Hello all Just today I came out of a store got into my 240 started it up and then I couldnt move the automatic shifter out of park. I tried to use the manual shift lock release and after 15 minutes I finially was able to get the car into gear. this happened again when I went out again. This also happened a few weeks ago and I brought the car to my mechanic we were able to put the car into gear by using the manual shift lock release easily . well now its getting much more difficult, My mechanic said he will look at the car , it could be the neutral safety switch , the brake light switch , or an adjustment on the linkage, well anyway I'm definetly going to bring the car in on monday, I cant afford to get stuck. Does anybody know what else this could be besides what I already mentioned. all replies are appreciated, Thanks rf64.
