240 blower motor and resistor swap

I am planning to replace the fan blower of my 240 1990. I have already taken out the motor from my parts car, a 1986 245. None of the cars have air conditionning.

I plan to use the chain saw method described by Don Foster to remove the faulty motor and install the replacement .The donor car has been sitting for more than three years outdoors had 150 000 miles on the original fan motor which does not appear seized.

Is there anything that I can do to lubricate it and ensure that it will last longer than the next 2 years. I drive on average 7500 miles a year and the motor I am replacing gave up (very noisy when cold during the winter and now burnt smell and smoke) after 165 000 miles.

As far as the resistance pack is concerne how do I check it.
