1989 240, 200K Tranny Bearing & seal shot 200

Auto AW70. Lots of play and fluid where the drive shaft bolts to the tranny flange. I had to dump 1/2 qt of fluid to bring the level up after driving in stop and go highway traffic. I also noticed the car had trouble shifting when cold before I got to the highway. I test drove it today and again would not shift when cold. It seems fine when warm

Obviously I will replace the bearing and seal. I guess I should do the pan gasket and filter while it's drained and a new tranny mount. Any thoughts as to why the car shifts poorly when cold? Is the procedure for the 89 240 the same as we see in the 700/900 FAQ? Any other things to do while I'm under there?
