Trialer on 95' 940 Turbo Sedan 900

I am assisting my mother and father in law in tranporting their scooter. They have purchased a little 4 x 6 utility trailer for hauling the scooter. I have installed the class II hitch which was no problem but now I need to connect the trailer wiring harness. I have seen all sorts of ways on this web site and have heard different ways here locally. What is the simplest way to install a properly functioning harness w/o triggering the idiot lights on the dash ? I need to do this tonight since they will be leaving in the morning. Any help would be appreciated.
