Hello,
I have a 1988 765T with 210K miles that I have been trying to diagnose a no start condition. It was running fine, then wouldn't restart after sitting for 4 hours. It cranks just fine, but won't start. I had AAA come out to tow it home, they jumped it first and it cranked right up. It sat for 6 days and has not started since. Spark is fine - replaced cap, rotor, coil, power stage. Sprayed some starting fluid in the intake and it fired right up. Sounds like a fuel problem, right? Within the last year, I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator and had the injectors professional serviced off the vehicle (flow tested, etc.). The fuel pump relay clicks when the ignition is turned on. I have swapped the 2 RSRs with no change (I can't see where they could have both failed at the same time). I can't hear the fuel pumps whirring when the ignition is first turned on, so I wanted to check the fuel pump operation. Haynes and Mitchell say to disconnect the charge air overpressure switch and ground to operate the pumps, but I can't find the sucker even after looking at the diagram from both sources. Does an 88 230FT have this switch and, if so, can someone tell me exactly where it is located? Also, it has been suggested that a weak battery/corroded cables can cause a no start condition, but it seems to crank just as it did when it started right up. Any other things to check? In the end, I'm sure it'll turn out to be something simple, but I'm at my wits end after spending many hours researching this.
Thanks in advance!
