AC condenser removal 200 1987

I've got an '87 240 wagon, its equipped for AC but I haven't used it in years and the AC compressor is jammed (so no power steering) and I don't plan on fixing it. My question is this: lately my car has been overheating occaisionally I think due to the radiator being old. I'm wondering if removing the AC condenser will improve airflow to the radiator and help me get some more life out of it. If so, is this something I could do myself or should I take it in to a shop because AC work can be toxic/dangerous?

Thanks!
Colin
