Engine Oil weight? leak too... 900

I have a 1991 940 turbo with 162xxx miles on it. I was wondering what engine oil weight i should use, because i am beginning to do my own oil changes and am switching to Mobil 1 or equivalent. I mostly drive in the city, and am almost done with stage 0 and will be doing stage 1 mods soon. My friends dad who is a hobby mechanic told me i should run strait weight 60 racing oil in my car and that would be fine and most likly stop my oil leak too because the molecules are much bigger. Right now im just running what the oil change place puts in which is 10W/30. What would you guys recomend, im kinda sceptical about running this strait weight oil, but i feel i should probably using something a little heavier than 10w/30.

Thanks
