Relay problems? Wipers and Shift lock 200 1992

Hiya,

I've got a '92 245, and I have a couple of issues.

One is that when you return the wiper switch to the off position, the wipers don't always shut off, and will continue to wipe. I believe it to be related to the relay, or the motor, because you can get it to stop by turning off the ignition then turning it back on. Has anyone had a similar problem? Was it the relay?

I'd like to test it, but I can't find the sucker. I searched through some old posts, and I pulled the carpet in the dead pedal area and found 2 foam covered relays, but disconnecting them had no affect on the wiper operation. Is the location different on '92 245s?

Also, when the car has been sitting for a while, and you press the brake pedal, the solenoid is slow to disengage the shift lock. It can take up to 10 seconds the first time for it to disengage. For subsequent brake presses, it works instantaneously. Again I'm thinking relay, but it could be the solenoid itself. I can't figure out how to access either, and the manual doesn't seem too helpful. Can anyone tell me how to get at them?

Thanks for any help!

Adam
