960 DIPSTICK REPLACEMENT & O-RING in engine? 900

OIL DIPSTICK cracked and broke. No plastic fell into tube. Not sure if o-ring went down tube later while I was putzing around with it. Let's say it did fall down tube... what would you all advise I do? Change oil and move on is what I was thinking. ALSO - I'm reading the 850 dipsticks were changed and many OEM replacements are varying lengths. Is this true of 960s? I'm about to order a new one from "Pelican" OEM but a bit dubious... Am I okay to drive without dipstick if I seal the tube with something until I get one?
Thanks!
