well I hope it is that easy. The brake lite fuse has to be good to allow the shift lock solenoid to operate (via the brake pedal switch) and it has been reported several times on RWD posts the fuse gets brittle with heat cycle (stepping on the brake pedal and powering 75 watts of brake lites) and then cracks in the middle. The fuse metal contracts in the cold and again touches when it warms up. Easy to check - if it falls apart when you remove it, you've got it.

If not that easy, you might have coca cola in the solenoid, under the shifter, and that, my friend, is not such a simple thing to get at.
